{AD|gifted} Are you a fan of Shakespeare? 🗡 I'm so excited to read THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS by @thechloegong. I adore Shakespeare and can't wait to read this ROMEO & JULIET retelling set in 1920s Shanghai. Check out the synopsis here: 🗡 The year is 1926, and Shanghai hums to the tune of debauchery. . . A blood feud between two gangs runs the streets red, leaving the city helpless in the grip of chaos. At the heart of it all is eighteen-year-old Juliette Cai, a former flapper who has returned to assume her role as the proud heir of the Scarlet Gang—a network of criminals far above the law. Their only rivals in power are the White Flowers, who have fought the Scarlets for generations. And behind every move is their heir, Roma Montagov, Juliette’s first love…and first betrayal. . . But when gangsters on both sides show signs of instability culminating in clawing their own throats out, the people start to whisper. Of a contagion, a madness. Of a monster in the shadows. As the deaths stack up, Juliette and Roma must set their guns—and grudges—aside and work together, for if they can’t stop this mayhem, then there will be no city left for either to rule. 🗡 A huge thank you to @readeatretreat / @hodderscape for my gifted proof copy. 🗡 #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookworm #bookaddict #igreads #bibliophile #bookstagramfeature #bookishfeatures #hodderscape #theseviolentdelights #chloegong #romeoandjuliet

{AD|gifted} Happy book birthday to KINGDOM OF THE WICKED by @kerrimaniscalco! 🐍 I absolutely adored this book and highly recommend it. It had everything I love – witches, demons, romance, enemies-to-lover, the underworld – all amidst an evocative Italian setting. 🐍 Emilia was a wonderful main character and I completely sympathised with her desire for vengeance. I appreciated the focus on the importance of family and loved the emphasis on food as a means of bringing people together. Wrath was the perfect foil to Emilia. I lived for their bickering and reluctant partnership and I can't wait to see where their story goes next. Kerri definitely excels at writing male love interests! 🐍 The mythology of the story was perfectly handled and was so intriguing. I wanted to know more and more about everything. KINGDOM OF THE WICKED allowed so much more scope for the author to demonstrate her creative potential compared the STALKING JACK THE RIPPER and it was subsequently engaging from beginning to end. The epic ending will leave you desperate for the sequel though! 🐍 Thank you to @hodderscape / @readeatretreat for my gifted proof copy. 🐍 #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookworm #bookaddict #igreads #bibliophile #bookstagramfeature #bookishfeatures #kingdomofthewicked #kerrimaniscalco
