Can’t Wait Wednesday: 26 September 2018

Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights upcoming releases.

Skyward – Brandon Sanderson

Skyward by Brandon SandersonDefeated, crushed, and driven almost to extinction, the remnants of the human race are trapped on a planet that is constantly attacked by mysterious alien starfighters.

Spensa, a teenage girl living among them, longs to be a pilot. When she discovers the wreckage of an ancient ship, she realizes this dream might be possible—assuming she can repair the ship, navigate flight school, and (perhaps most importantly) persuade the strange machine to help her.

Because this ship, uniquely, appears to have a soul.

Why I Can’t Wait:

I haven’t read any Brandon Sanderson yet but I have the Mistborn trilogy on my October TBR list. I’ve only heard good things about the series so I’m eager to finally read it. When I saw he had a new YA sci-fi book coming out, I was immediately intrigued as it sounds amazing. I love the UK cover but, as a huge Charlie Bowater fan, I also love the US one. I’ve just been approved on NetGalley for Skyward so, if I love it as much as I hope, I might get a signed copy from B&N as well as the UK one.

Release Date: 6 November 2018

It’s really gorgeous. Gollancz do the Joanne Harris Loki books in the same style which is why I automatically bought them!
