Folio Society Summer Sale
I adore Folio Society books as the quality is outstanding and the customer service is second-to-none. I have quite a lovely collection so far and I’ve managed to buy editions of my favourite novels such as The Shining and Anne of Green Gables. The Summer Sale has just gone live so I thought I’d share what books I’m definitely buying and which ones I’d buy if I had more money.
I’ve saved £1 for every book read this year and have about £100 to spend on the sale. My first must-have is the Alexander Trilogy by Mary Renault. The trilogy tells the story of Alexander the Great and I’ve been wanting to read it for ages so it’s the perfect time to buy it. All sale titles are half-price so this costs £52.45.
Next up is another book I’ve yet to read but keep meaning to. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote includes rare courtroom photographs and has great reviews. It’s on sale at £15.95.
My final purchase is Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne. My main reason for buying this one is the gorgeous cover and stunning illustrations. It’s on sale at £20.95.
These are the three books I’m buying with my savings but there are plenty more that tempted me. Here are three others that almost made the cut. First is Candide by Voltaire. I loved this when I studied it for my degree and this illustrated edition is gorgeous. The sale price is £37.50.
Next up is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. As one of my favourite authors, I’d love the own this lovely edition. It’s only £19.95 too.
The final book on my wishlist is illustrated by Anna and Elena Balbusso, which is the main reason I’d love it. The Queen of Spades and Other Stories by Alexander Pushkin is a collection of short stories accompanied by striking illustrations. The sale price is £19.45.
Is anyone else a Folio fan? If so, are you buying any books in the Summer Sale? Are there any you’d recommend as must-haves?
