July Owlcrate Unboxing: Strange & Unusual
I knew I had to get this month’s Owlcrate as I adore anything spooky or Halloween themed so a box centred around ‘Strange & Unusual’ was a must-buy for me. Additionally, the fandoms mentioned were all ones which I love so I was eager to see the chosen items.
THIS POST OBVIOUSLY CONTAINS SPOILERS!
This is your last chance to avoid spoilers for the July 2018 Owlcrate box!
First up was this exclusive pennant flag designed by Risa Rodil and inspired by Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I haven’t actually read this series but I’ve seen the film and love this quote regardless. Also included was a mini Funko keychain from Stranger Things. You could get either Eleven or Dustin but I got Eleven. I love both characters so wouldn’t have minded either way.
One of my favourite items was this amazing tin of Ouija board mints from Boston America Corp. I’ll definitely be keeping the tin once I’ve eaten the mints. The next item was a set of spooky skull push pins created by Team Owlcrate. They’re cute but I won’t use them so my sister has taken them.
I absolutely adore this Luna Lovegood vinyl sticker created by one of my favourite artists TJ Lubrano. It’s so colourful and matches Luna’s character perfectly.
This box also contained a special art print designed by Aun-Juli Riddle exclusively for Owlcrate subscribers, which I thought was a lovely way to show their appreciation to loyal customers.
My favourite item was this stunning purse, exclusively designed by Reverie and Ink, and inspired by The Raven Boys which is one of my favourite series. It actually feels more like a mini clutch bag to me but I love it either way.
This month’s book was a signed exclusive edition of My Plain Jane. This is the second copy I own as I also received it in Litjoy last month. I love the deckle edges of the Owlcrate edition but the artwork on the Litjoy dustjacket is stunning so I’m leaning towards keeping that copy. Also included was an author letter and a papercraft diorama of Thornfield Hall.
As you can see from the full unboxing, this was a fun box that I felt was definitely worth the money. It cost about £38 to the UK which is quite expensive but the items are always great quality. The theme maybe would have been better suited to October but I like spookiness year round so loved it.
The August theme is Ruthless Royals and will feature items inspired by The Belles, Throne of Glass, Disney and The Cruel Prince. Even though I would have loved this box for the goodies alone, I’ve decided to skip it as I already have a copy of the book and can’t justify spending £38 to end up with another (despite it being a signed, exclusive).
