Mulan Book Tag
I felt like doing another book tag after coming across one based on my favourite Disney film Mulan. The tag was created by Kirsty and the Cat Read but I saw it first on Never Not Reading.
Reflection – A book cover that doesn’t accurately reflect what the book is about.
My Brilliant Friend – Elena Ferrante
I loved the complex narrative of My Brilliant Friend but, if I’d seen this cover before hearing the great reviews, I wouldn’t have picked it up. I understand the horrible image was chosen to challenge the damaging stigma around women’s fiction but it’s just so ugly!
Mushu – A character with a lot to prove.
The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater
Puck from The Scorpio Races has a lot to prove to her brother and the other islanders who don’t think a woman should be taking part in the race. She’s definitely one of my favourite characters as she challenges the island’s norms whilst refusing to back down.
I’ll Make a Man Out of You – A character who develops a lot, or a book with some kick-ass training scenes.
Red Rising – Pierce Brown
I was going to say Nyxia for this one before realising I didn’t have a photo so I’ve gone with Red Rising instead for the brutal training scenes set at The Academy.
A Girl Worth Fighting For – A ship you will defend until your last breath.
Anne of Green Gables – L.M. Montgomery
I absolutely love Anne and Gilbert together so will ship them until the very end. Plus Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite series so I had to fit it in somewhere.
Huns – A book/character that gave you the creeps.
Godblind / Darksoul – Anna Stephens
To be honest, over half the characters in these books gave me the creeps but Lord Galtas Morellis was definitely the character I found most repulsive. On a side note, if you love fantasy then you should read these books as soon as possible.
Mulan – Your favourite bad-ass female protagonist.
Sky in the Deep – Adrienne Young
One of my favourite recent bad-ass female protagonists was Eelyn from Sky in the Deep. She is a fierce Viking warrior and someone who is willing to fight for a better future.
I really enjoyed this short tag. Feel free to consider yourself tagged if you’d like to take part or comment below with your answers.
