Six for Sunday: Upcoming Releases
The prompts for May are themed around the ever-growing TBR pile and today’s is 2019 books I’m excited for.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Illustrated) – J.K. Rowling
This is probably my most-anticipated book of the year as I can’t wait to see how Jim Kay has interpreted the story.
I think there are too many editions being published but this one definitely deserves to be as it adds so much to the story.
Bloodchild – Anna Stephens
The Godblind trilogy has quickly become one of my favourite fantasy series. It’s a very dark series with a lot of gruesome scenes but it has absolutely amazing characters and a gripping plot.
I received the first book as part of my Goldsboro BOTM and ordered their matching edition of Darksoul. I’ve also pre-ordered the final book with them.
Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater
I love Maggie Stiefvater’s writing style and The Scorpio Races is one of my all-time favourite books. The Raven Cycle is one of those series I became completely immersed in and it was a world I didn’t want to leave.
I can’t wait for Ronan’s trilogy to begin; his dreaming abilities were always fascinating so I’m eager to see what happens next.
The Queen of Nothing – Holly Black
I only read the first two books this year but found the story and characters compelling. The ending of The Wicked King has left me eager to find out what happens to Jude next.
I’ve pre-ordered the final book from Barnes & Noble to match my other two (my sister bought me the first one when she was in New York and before it became hard to get!).
The Starless Sea – Erin Morgenstern
Like a lot of readers, I found The Night Circus to be a magical story that lingers in your mind long after finishing. It will be interesting to see if The Starless Sea can live up to the inevitable hype.
I’m not a huge fan of the standard UK edition so I’ve pre-ordered the exclusive Waterstones edition which is also signed and has a hidden cover.
Kingdom of Souls – Rena Barron
The first thing that drew me to this book was the fantastic cover. Then I read the description and knew it would be something I’d love. I mean, it’s about a family of witchdoctors and even has a Demon King!
I’ve pre-ordered the Goldsboro edition which is signed and numbered, with sprayed edges, and I’m sure it will be absolutely stunning.
I really enjoyed taking part in this and look forward to the June prompts revolving around bookish wishes.
