Throne of Glass Vs. ACOTAR Book Tag

I saw this tag over on LauReads and began planning my answers straight away. The original tag was created by Vanessa at Through Prose Tinted Pages but her blog is no longer active.

Favourite Main Character: Aelin or Feyre?

I have to go with Aelin as her story takes place over seven books (not counting Tower of Dawn) so we get a much more complicated and layered backstory.

🗡 Winner: Throne of Glass 🗡

Favourite Love Interest: Rowan or Rhysand?

I’m not a big fan of Rowan as I found him so unlikeable at the beginning (although he did grow on me) so it has to be Rhysand. He has some issues too but he’s otherwise pretty swoon-worthy and a great book boyfriend.

✨ Winner: A Court of Thorns and Roses ✨

Better First Book: Throne of Glass or A Court of Thorns and Roses?

Purely comparing the two books separately from subsequent books, I definitely preferred A Court of Thorns and Roses. It hooked me more than Throne of Glass initially did.

✨ Winner: A Court of Thorns and Roses ✨

Favourite Female Side Character: Manon or Nesta?

This was an easy choice as I adore Manon (and Abraxos). She has such an incredible storyline with nuanced character development. It’s hard to understand Nesta’s behaviour as we’ve yet to focus on her character.

🗡 Winner: Throne of Glass 🗡

Better Squad: Aelin’s Court or Rhys’ Inner Circle?

Both have their advantages and disadvantages but I have to choose the Inner Circle as they’re a more cohesive squad. Aelin’s Court is going to take a little longer to establish.

✨ Winner: A Court of Thorns and Roses ✨

Favourite Female Friendships?

I think Aelin’s friendships with Lysandra and Elide are a lot more fleshed-out and complex than Feyre’s with Amren and Mor. Feyre always seems like her best friend is Rhys whereas Aelin and Lysandra have such a deep history and trusting friendship.

🗡 Winner: Throne of Glass 🗡

Best Villain: King of Adarlan or Amarantha?

A lot of the King of Adarlan’s motivations are shadowy so I have to say Amarantha as her cruelty and cunning are displayed with pride.

✨ Winner: A Court of Thorns and Roses ✨

Better Setting: Erilea or Prythia?

Even though Erilea has such detailed world-building and is more expansive, I have to go with Prythian as the Courts are so vividly described and unique.

✨ Winner: A Court of Thorns and Roses ✨

Better Ex-Boyfriend: Chaol or Tamlin?

Credit: Taratjah / LadyKalynne

I was not a Chaol fan until Tower of Dawn but Tamlin is definitely the worse ex-boyfriend due to his abusive and controlling behaviour towards Feyre.

🗡 Winner: Throne of Glass 🗡

Better Last Book: Kingdom of Ash or A Court of Wings and Ruin?

ACOWAR wasn’t quite as good as ACOMAF for me and it’s obvious there are more stories to tell in this world. Kingdom of Ash, however, was an epic conclusion to the ToG series and gave me such a book hangover.

🗡 Winner: Throne of Glass 🗡

Winner: Throne of Glass or ACOTAR?

Throne of Glass: 5

🗡✨ Winner: IT’S A TIE! ✨🗡

So that didn’t really help to narrow down my favourite since my answers were split evenly. I love both series but ACOTAR was the first one I read so remains special to me. However, I will keep gushing about both as I’m SJM trash.

I haven’t read either series yet but this has motivated it to start them sooner.

This was so much fun! I almost agreed with all your choices, although it did make me want to do this tag for myself 😂🙃

Do it! I can’t wait to read your answers. I now want to re-read ACOTAR though despite having a huge TBR pile. 🙈
