Top 10 Books of 2020
What were your favourite books of 2020? Here are my top 10 of the year.

The House in the Cerulean Sea – T.J. Klune
If you want a book that’s like a cosy jumper on a winter’s day then please read this. It’s devastatingly powerful and heartwarming.

Where the Crawdads Sing – Delia Owens
The lyrical prose in this novel is exquisite and evoked the natural wildlife perfectly. Kya was an unforgettable main character and one that will stay with me long after reading.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse – Charlie Mackesy
Enchantingly simple yet potent. A must-read book to soothe your soul.

The Devil and the Dark Water – Stuart Turton
This is an atmospheric mystery set aboard a merchant ship travelling to Amsterdam, with a well-paced plot steeped in superstition and fear.

The Beautiful Ones – Silvia Moreno-Garcia
A tale of entangled loves, bitterness, magic, and hope, reminiscent of Austen’s exploration of manners.

The Once and Future Witches – Alix E. Harrow
This is a spellbinding story of sisterhood, power, and taking back what women deserve.

If We Were Villains – M.L. Rio
As a huge Shakespeare fan, this worked for me on so many levels. I can’t wait to reread it and really explore every perfectly-constructed sentence.

Hollowpox – Jessica Townsend
This is the third book in my favourite middle-grade series and it successfully expanded the absolute wonder and magic of the previous two instalments.

The Empire of Gold – S.A. Chakraborty
If you love richly descriptive world-building and beautiful prose then this fantasy trilogy is definitely one to add to your TBR pile.

Heart of Flames – Nicki Pau Preto
This series has some of the best world-building I’ve ever read and I loved how the character arcs have developed.
Have you read any of these books and what did you think of them? Any you’ll be adding to your TBR pile?
