WWW Wednesday: 24 April 2019

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On A World of Words. All you have to do is answer the three Ws and leave your link on the main blog.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading King of Fools by Amanda Foody. I really enjoyed Ace of Shades so can’t wait to see where this book goes. My current non-fiction read is Jeanette Winterson’s autobiography, Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?. I asked for recommendations for poetry books on IG recently so I’m also reading Nirvana by Michael Tavon.

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently read The Escape for this month’s Litsy Whodunit. It was okay but nothing special. I also finished The Strawberry Thief, which wasn’t as good as Chocolat but it was nice to revisit these characters. I also re-read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I plan to read Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim, which is released this July and has brilliant reviews so far. Then I’m hoping to finally read Vicious and Vengeful by V.E. Schwab.

I loved Chocolat and enjoyed the Lollipop Shoes and Peaches for Monsieur le Curé but I find Vianne harder to sympathise with as the books progress. Saying that, the Strawberry Thief focuses on her daughter Rosette who I loved.

I would agree with your perception of Viane having read the prior 3.

The author’s note explains that it’s how she coped with change but I just loved Vianne in Chocolat and miss her!

See that makes sense and my mum hasn’t read Lollipop shoes or Peaches so I guess it would be jarring not to see the evolution of character when you have such affection for her first appearance.

Yes, you’re right. I think you’d need to have read the previous books especially the Lollipop Shoes as she’s scared of another Zozie coming to take Rosette away.

Goblet of Fire has to be one of my favourite books of the Harry Potter series. Hope you liked The Escape – that is on my TBR.

Mine too. The Escape was okay but nothing outstanding.
